Meet Katie and Aaron Amsler

Residents of Block House Creek for more than ten years, Katie and Aaron Amsler are renowned throughout the neighborhood, not only as dedicated volunteers, but as awesome organizers and devoted parents of three.

It was her love of running that prompted Katie to become a primary organizer of the BHC 5K Family Fun Run. Katie devoted many hours to planning, coordinating, and hosting this special event designed to benefit charities and non-profit organizations and support the well-being of BHC residents. For Block House Creek Elementary School’s PTA, it was the Third Annual Fun Run that contributed $4,300+ to the installation of the school’s new crushed granite track. She also loves softball. When softball season arrives, you’ll definitely find her on the field—Aaron, too!

Katie and Aaron annually host a National Night Out Block Party and Fall Fest in their area of the neighborhood, including hayrides! During the summer, a movie night, open to all, shows movies projected onto the Amsler’s garage door—popcorn included. Hosting random cul-de-sac cook-outs is another of their favorites.

The Amslers are avid supporters of OA. For the BBQ Cook-Off, Aaron competes in every category while Katie works in the background to ensure the success of the event. For Light Up the Night, Katie joins in to prepare and place luminaries along the 3-mile loop. When the time of day is just right, Aaron hitches up the trailer and treats residents to hayrides that highlight the displays of Outdoor Decorating Contest winners and the luminaries that light up the 3-mile loop. Whatever the event or the neighborhood need, Katie and Aaron stand ready to answer the call!

Katie’s career skills align to the fields of cheerleading, tumbling, and problem resolution for kids. She has served 3 years as a volunteer coach for a program through our schools entitled “Destination Imagination.” As a part of this program, teams gain new problem resolution skills, prepare their program-related presentations, and compete at local and state level. In their desire to give kids a big boost in the sports arena, Katie and Aaron are members of the Board of the Rouse Youth Football Association, dedicated to educating kids, 6th grade and under, on both the sport of football and the techniques of cheerleading.

“We love Block House Creek. It’s a safe, wonderful environment for ourselves and our kids. We have made so many new friends,” says Katie. “With such great parks, pools, and amenities, we don’t have to leave the neighborhood to have fun!”
Congratulations to Outstanding Volunteer Katie Amsler and her fantastic family.
