JOINING US AT HARVEST FEST—BAKE A WISH AUSTIN! Residents! WE can help make someone’s birthday special! Bake a Wish, a give back to the community group of volunteers, is sponsoring a Baking Supply Drive during BHC OA’s Harvest Fest 2013. So exactly what does Bake a Wish give back to the community?
Volunteers bake and deliver free birthday cakes for abused, neglected, and abandoned children, children in Central Texas, the elderly, and disabled adults in group homes or shelters who otherwise would not receive a birthday cake. Bake a Wish will be collecting donations of baking supplies and/or cash which will go directly to the volunteers who bake all those cakes. Consider actually sponsoring a cake—that’s a tax deductible donation of just $20!
WHAT SUPPLIES DO BAKE A WISH VOLUNTEERS NEED? They need gift cards to Make It Sweet, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, Party City, Walmart, or HEB. And, they need new or gently used cake and cupcake pans, chocolate chips, extracts (pure and clear vanilla or pure almond), cake mixes of any flavor (regular or sugar free), mini marshmallows, meringue powder, cocoa powder, cupcake liners, sprinkles, sparkles, sugars, pastry bags, fondant, non-stick cooking or baking spray, and gel based food coloring.
Donations may be dropped off during the hours of Harvest Fest (10 AM to 1 PM). Or, call 512-789-2287 to have a Bake a Wish volunteer pick up from you.
