The importance of using seat belts cannot be emphasized enough. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the use of seat belts is the single most effective safety device for preventing death and injury in the event of an accident. Ensuring that every driver and every passenger is wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50 percent.
Texting while driving is now cited as being even more dangerous than not being buckled up. There simply is no such thing as safe texting while driving—now one of the leading causes of traffic injuries and deaths across America.
Return Home Safe, a BHC OA Maintenance and Safety Committee project, strives to focus the attention of Block House residents on the importance of being certain all passengers are reminded to buckle up and the drivers to put away the cell phone. This awareness will help ensure that the attention of every driver is totally focused on the road before exiting the neighborhood!
Now in place at every primary exit from our community are Buckle Up Block House and No Texting While Driving signs reminding residents to take all precautionary measures to remain safe—especially before turning onto 183 (Bell Blvd.) or 183A.
Next time you exit the neighborhood, be on the lookout for the Buckle Up Block House and No Texting While Driving signs. Stay safe Block House Creek! We care about you!
