Meet Outstanding Volunteer Cynthia Langdon!
Many BHC residents will recognize Cynthia Langdon as the expert who masters the microphone for many Association-sponsored events, in particular, the BBQ Cook-Off! She and husband, Tommy, are also familiar faces when the Fourth of July flags and the Christmas luminaries are distributed along Block House Drive. A valuable member of the Association’s Recreation Committee for a number of years, Cynthia has helped organize numerous community-wide events.
Since moving into Block House in 2008, Cynthia and Tommy have actively supported their kids’ activities. From Girl Scouts to the Tidal Waves Swim Team, these groups have been a great way to be involved and make friends for both them and their children. Their house has been the site of many neighborhood block parties throughout the years. Cynthia has also been continually involved with PTA and Sports Booster Clubs at both Block House Elementary and Wiley Middle School. Cynthia feels that it has been through volunteering that she and Tommy have met so many great people who have become really great friends.
“To me,” says Cynthia, “Block House Creek is a small town environment, a safe, fun, and beautiful place for my kids to grow up. Here, we have not only fabulous amenities but a colorful history. I especially like that this is a neighborhood that tries to engage everyone. There’s such a strong community spirit here. People are willing to step up when another person’s commitment levels prevent them from continuing in a particular role.”
Cynthia, a job coach for Leander ISD who instructs 18-22 year olds with disabilities, describes Block House Creek as a gem of affordable housing, a great place to live with so much to offer. “If we were to win the lottery and want a bigger house, we would still want to live in Block House Creek. We are here to stay!”
Heartiest congratulations to Outstanding Volunteer Cynthia Langdon and to husband Tommy!
