Calling All Residents:
BHC Owners Association is calling for residents to decorate their homes and lawns to help lift spirits during this trying time! No need to go out shopping; please use decorations and supplies that you already have. The more creative, the better! Get the whole family involved to come up with a theme, incorporate some handmade decorations, and really let your personality and individual spirit shine through!
If you can do it safely, maybe coordinate with some of your neighbors (from a safe distance! perhaps by phone or email) and consider coming up with a theme for your block. Incorporate some humor and creativity by creating lighthearted displays on social distancing or proper hygiene during the pandemic. Maybe just create a display on why Block House is *THE GREATEST* neighborhood in Central Texas!
Please note that, while some nearby neighborhoods may be participating in “light up the neighborhood” or using holiday decor, this is NOT a holiday decorating contest. Block House is a truly one-of-a-kind and special neighborhood, and we hope that our community will strive to decorate in a way that highlights what makes Block House stand out from the rest. We encourage each of you to try your hand at coming up with a display that’s special, creative, and displays your Block House spirit!
Please note that decor should not impede passing pedestrian traffic on sidewalks, should not create sight line hazards for drivers, and should remain entirely on your own property. Please be aware of materials that may not hold up in the rain or wind and try to keep those toward the house to minimize damage and mess. Please note that you may begin decorating at any time, but our contest will end with judging on May 15th, and ALL decor must be removed no later than May 31st.
In the meantime, please have some fun! We hope this will help raise spirits throughout the neighborhood, inspire some fun family activities, get residents of all ages feeling creative and entertained, and provide some great visuals when walking or driving around the neighborhood and exercising proper social distancing.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Best Block House Spirit
Most Creative
Best Themed Block (or street)
Most Kid-Friendly
Best Positive Message
Residents are asked to nominate homes to be entered for the judging. (You can nominate your own home!) Those nominated will be the only homes judged. Please send your nominations as early as possible but no later than May 14th. Submit your nominations to Block House Creek Owners Association, bhcoa@pinnacletexas.com. The BHC OA Spirit Decorations Judging Team looks forward to hearing from you. The judging will be on May 15th, with the delivery of prizes on May 17th. The decorations may be left up to be enjoyed by the neighborhood after judging, but all decor must be removed on or before May 31st.
I hope you will all bring out the decorations and help with this effort to raise the spirits in the neighborhood!
