Walker House
The gracious and historic Walker House, built in 1838 by the Republic of Texas, has been saved and renovated for the benefit of all. Walker House is now used to host meetings and small gatherings for Block House residents. Photos of early inhabitants are on display as well as remnants of wallpaper once used to decorate the rooms. A tour of Walker House is available on the Municipal Utility District’s website, www.blockhousemud.com. Residents who wish to reserve Walker House for a special event may do so through the Municipal Utility District’s website.
Tumlinson Park
The jewel of the neighborhood is Tumlinson Park, a park with many amenities that help make Block House Creek an idyllic place to call home. Tumlinson Park features the Tumlinson Pool and its’ three-tiered slide. Two playscapes, featuring ladders, slides, tunnels, and safe-for-kids soft surfaces, allow kids to safely play. A hiking trail encircling the park is heavily shaded by lush oak and pecan trees. Picnic tables, barbeque grills, a sand volleyball court, and chess/checkerboard tables are all available to residents for fun family outings. Tumlinson Park also has available two tennis courts, a basketball court, and a sport court.
Apache Park
Nestled in the middle of the neighborhood, Apache Park is home of the year-round heated Apache Pool. The two-acre park includes a playscape with ladders, climbing features, and a spiral slide. The play scape is circled by a sidewalk and benches for the comfort of parents watching their children. Native oak trees and artfully placed boulders create an attractive landscape. Berms with drought-tolerant plants provide a contrast to surrounding flat areas.
Comanche Park
Comanche Park, a small park, is located at the entrance to the Block House Creek subdivision. It’s a great place to enjoy riding a bike or taking a short walk. Pick up your frisbees and play a scenic game of disc golf.
Tumlinson Pool
Tumlinson Pool, located in Tumlinson Park at the front of the subdivision, is a family-friendly destination for summer activities. Tumlinson is a zero-entry pool – step into ankle-deep water and the floor gradually descends to five feet in depth. The mushroom waterfall and newly-installed three-tiered slide are the biggest attractions for children. Vending machines, outdoor showers, lawn chairs, and lots of shade make Tumlinson Pool ideal for a day of family fun. Tumlinson Pool is open May through September, and water aerobics classes are also available.
Apache Pool
Apache Pool, heated during the winter, features six lanes and ranges in depth from three feet at the edge to five feet in the middle. During open swim, half of the pool is available to lap swimmers. The other half is open for families and play. Apache Pool also features an area with a depth of two feet especially for small children.
